Diakoftis Beach

Algemeen

Diakoftis Beach ligt op het zuidelijkste puntje van Karpathos, ongeveer 15 kilometer ten zuiden van Pigadia, direct ten zuiden van de luchthaven. Het strand, ook wel "The Blue Lagoon" genoemd, heeft fijn wit zand en ondiep, kalm melkturkoois water, ideaal voor gezinnen. Er is een eenvoudige strandbar met drankjes en snacks, en ligbedden en parasols zijn te huur. Omdat het zuidelijke deel van Karpathos vaak winderig is, kan het op Diakoftis regelmatig flink waaien, vooral in de zomermaanden met de Meltemi-wind. Op winderige dagen kan het strand minder prettig zijn, terwijl kalmere dagen ook voorkomen. Bezoekers wordt aangeraden hier rekening mee te houden bij hun strandkeuze.
